FACELIFT

As we age areas of the face (such as the jawline and neck) are especially prone to sagging and loss of volume. Gravity, sun exposure and daily stress can take a toll. A facelift, or Rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure to improve visible signs of aging in the face and neck by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and repositioning the skin.

A facelift can help with

  • Loose skin around the jowls and neck

  • Skin folds from the nose to the lower mouth

  • Excess fatty deposits in lower cheeks and neckline

  • Moderate wrinkles caused by sagging skin

THE PROCEDURE

The surgeon will plan the incision based on your anatomy and desired result. Incisions usually begin above the hairline at the temples, extend in a natural line in front of the ear and continue behind the earlobe to the lower scalp. Fat may be trimmed or suctioned from the neck and chin to improve the contour. The surgeon then tightens the underlying muscles and removes excess skin resulting in a more tightened, natural look. Any scarring is usually hidden by your hair or the natural creases of your face and ears and will fade considerably with time.

A facelift can also be combined with other procedures such as a neck lift and liposuction, brow lift, eyelid surgery and laser resurfacing depending on your concerns.
